What led me to a career in social work

I am often asked what led me to a career in social work. My response is I wasn’t looking to be a social worker, but social work found me. I remember walking on the NTCC college campus, disheartened about some news I received earlier that morning. As I walked passed a door, I noticed a sign that said something similar: Do you like helping people? My answer was “yes” to each question on the document. At the end of the paper, it said if your answer is yes, then you should consider a career in social work. My life forever changed at that moment.
